About
My name is Miguelangel, I'm a Designer and Illustrator freelance, originally from Venezuela, based in Turin (Italy). I graduated in Graphic Design at the Instituto de Diseño de Caracas. After 20 years working in Packaging Design for important communication agencies in Turin and Milan, I decided to return to paper. To improve my illustration technique, in 2017 I attended the summer course at Ars in Fabula with Roger Olmos and I am currently attending the Master’s in Illustration for Publishing at the same school.
In my childhood I loved experimenting with colors and manual work, such as paper cutting, wood curving, and I loved contemplating nature. The research of the subjects of my drawings is instinctive; speaking from the gut I want to convey my emotions, they have a nostalgic and romantic tone. I'm currently researching and studying to develop my illustration style. My work is characterized by different techniques, I like to mix from colored pencils, watercolors, gouache and ink, to digital drawing/coloring.
